PARTICIPATE
The Foundation relies on participation by its sponsors, mentors, and others who donate their time, money and skills in order to make the Foundation and all of its events successful. We are looking for mentors who are interested in mentoring young minority law students. Many lawyers have found the mentor/mentee relationship personally and professionally satisfying. Unfortunately, we need to raise money to put on the annual picnic and other events. Sponsorship opportunities are available and John Kozyak or Detra Shaw-Wilder would be delighted to put interested parties in contact with law firms, accounting firms and bar associations, which have previously been sponsors, to disuss the ...

MENTORING WORKS
We hope these comments from mentors and mentees will help further explain the program and give you some ideas for being a better mentor or mentee. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Jennifer Cornwell, Esq. Student at Florida Coastal School of Law, 2L March 2012 - I am writing to ask you to support Mr. Kozyak's foundation and annual picnic. Not only does Mr. Kozyak talk the talk, but he walks the walk. I am a minority student who completed a brief form at the picnic. As a result, Mr. Kozyak contacted me himself: he actually wanted to help. He gave me honest feedback about my resume and answered ...

8th annual Microsoft Women and Minority Law Student IP Summit to be held at The University of Miami, University of Miami Alumni Center<http://www6.miami.edu/alumnicenter/contact/>. Diversity, women, minorities, and IP law are the interests that bind the attendees of this Summit. The IP Diversity Summit is an opportunity for law students from diverse backgrounds to learn about different career paths in intellectual property law, while networking with attorneys from leading companies, law firms, and affinity and minority bar associations. Microsoft has hosted prior summits in Washington, D.C., New York, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin and we are excited to bring this opportunity to Miami, Florida in 2011.
The event includes an overview of the principal areas covered by IP law, a panel discussion focused on what firms and companies are doing to support IP career opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds, and finally a career discussion with lawyers providing their perspectives on the broad range of paths to IP. The panels will be followed by the networking reception. The IP Diversity Summit is open to all law students and attorneys, and we strongly encourage participation by women, minorities, affinity groups, LGBT and students and attorneys with disabilities in particular. There is no cost to the students or members of the bar for the summit sessions but space is limited so RSVP/registration is required.
